Free As A Bird
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" Matthew 6:26,27
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
I have been sleeping so well lately, but this early morning at 3:30 a.m. I felt that nudge from the Lord to get up. Not sure where I was going to go in The Word, but He led me to Matthew 6:25-34.
Ironic that it was on worry , which I have done a bit recently and birds, which I have been rather obsessed with in the past few months.
One bag of bird seed used to last weeks but since I added my fourth bird feeder, they have flocked to our Reichel Cottage . I could sit for hours watching the birds come and go as they please, not a care in the world. I especially love my Cardinals and their babies but many different birds have fluttered onto the feeders. They love the healthy omega 3 bird seed I provide as well as their natural food such as worms and such. Yes if my Lord cares this much for the birds of the air, surely He cares that much more for every detail of my life.
Then why do I worry about today, tomorrow or the next day? I have read these verses over and over for years but for some reason it hit me differently today. I pray dear Lord, as I listen to the happy songs of the birds and watch them flutter with not a care in this world that they would be a daily reminder of Your true love, care and concern for me. That any concerns or worry I have, I can let it all go and fly away. Free at last!
When troubles abound
Rest on eagles wings,
Give your worries to the Lord
A peace from above He'll bring.
