Biography

Jody Bennett Reichel has lived in the South and by the sea her entire life.  She was born and raised in Jesup, Georgia, a small Southern town. After graduating from Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, she taught school and coached tennis in Savannah, Georgia before moving to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  Jody and her husband, Rob, have lived on Hilton Head Island for over thirty years where they raised their four children and are now proud grandparents lovingly known as “Jojo” and “Bobs”.

In addition to her love for writing, her family, the beach, and all things Southern, Jody enjoys gardening, tennis, biking, ministering to those in need and opening her home to share Southern hospitality and her homemade pralines.  She spends time on her porch, writing, praying and studying God’s Word. Through the years Jody has volunteered at nursing homes, Special Olympics, Wheelchair Tennis, and Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Week of Champions. She has taught Sunday school, led Bible studies and remains active in various ministries at Hilton Head Presbyterian Church. Jody’s inspirational writings have been nationally published with Dear Cards. Still Before the Dawn is Jody’s first book.
